The Brief
The Red Bull esports channel approached Jelly to provide daily coverage and content for its World of Warcraft event: ‘Race to World’s First: Mythic Battle of Dazar’alor’, with the chief aim of taking the large, passionate World of Warcraft fanbase and introducing it to the Red Bull esports channel.
Content Creation
The raid event spanned eight days and took place from January 30th to February 6th 2019. During this time, Jelly monitored the Twitch streams and used the coverage to create original, reactive assets within a very small time frame.
Challenges
Finding fresh content for a project of this scope is definitely one of the main hurdles to delivering a successful activation, especially as the players had to constantly repeat the same gaming processes in order to devise strategies to defeat the game’s bosses. Extra creativity was required of our social team to ensure the audience remained captivated. We made use of behind the scenes photographs and uploaded short videos to retain the appeal of the raid and maintain web traffic.
Summary
At the close of the event, over 100,000 viewers watched premier esports guild Method succeed in its bid to be the first to vanquish final boss Lady Jaina Proudmoore, an excellent result for Red Bull Esports and another successful activation for Jellymedia.
