Community building is one of the most difficult tasks in the digital marketing age – especially if you’re looking to create a community from scratch within an already-incredibly-passionate niche – but our expertise helped Dovetail Games to build a brand new, organic community of over 22,000 followers in just 12 months.
We Are Railfans is a new brand for fans of all things trains; it seeks to establish online spaces in which railfans can engage with one another, share photos, read articles and learn more about their favourite hobby. This is achieved through an official website at wearerailfans.com (which hosts weekly articles, fan photos and more) and via the We Are Railfans social and content channels at Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Jelly were asked to provide full social media support by generating, publishing and moderating content for the We Are Railfans channels. These all launched on 27th July 2020 from zero followers, meaning a lot of work was needed from the ground up to build these communities. Through daily posts (1,300 posts across all channels and counting!), targeted paid promotion and online events, the We Are Railfans social channels now – one year on – have a combined following of 22,000.
This success was achieved by combining some fantastic articles and features created by the client, with regular additional content written and sourced by Jelly. Through dedicated software like Sprout Social, we are able to schedule posts for optimal times and produce reports on social channels and post performance as required. Jelly also has provided bespoke asset creation for the project that has helped maximise the efficacy of specific posts.
